In recent years, Information Systems (IS) scholars have focused on various healthcare topics, addressing emerging challenges and the technologies aimed at overcoming them. Digital healthcare, at the intersection of information and communication technology (ICT) and healthcare, is driving rapid innovations vital for economic prosperity and societal well-being. The complexity of healthcare and the diverse interests of stakeholders create a rich research landscape. This period is particularly significant for digital healthcare due to advancements in AI, powerful mobile devices, and increasing wellness demands from an aging population. However, these developments also raise concerns, such as rising costs that may create affordability gaps and cybersecurity risks, including potential data theft. As the focus shifts towards proactive and preventative care, it is essential to examine the relevance of ICT in these new care models. This presentation aims to: (1) overview healthcare IS research topics from the past decade, (2) highlight emerging research directions from some recent works, and (3) pinpoint areas with potential for future research in this field.
