HIEBS Monthly Economic Policy Workshop: Next Wave of Deep Tech Innovation in Hong Kong & GBA
Mr. Henry Tan, Co-Founder and General Partner of Q Venture Partners (QVP), will first share his views on the topic of “Next Wave of Deep Tech Innovation in Hong Kong & GBA”, followed by an open discussion among participants moderated by Professor Heiwai Tang, Associate Director of HIEBS.
Henry Tan is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in technology, business strategy & operations, finance and investment.
He is the Co-Founder and General Partner of Q Venture Partners (QVP), an early stage venture capital firm with presence in Silicon Valley, Tokyo and Hong Kong. QVP invests globally in enabling technologies that have IP-based breakthroughs in areas of computing, power, communication, sensors, materials and software. We also invest in startups with applied technology utilizing hardware and AI to disrupt massive markets including industry 4.0, healthcare, mobility and robotics. In addition to deal sourcing and investing, he focuses on helping QVP’s portfolio companies establish strategic partnership and generate revenue in Asia.
Henry is also the Director of Q Design Studio (QDS), a full-stack product design, engineering, prototyping and manufacturing studio with years of experience in helping startups build and launch products. With 20+ engineers and manufacturing experts based in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, QDS helps clients quickly and cost-effectively build prototypes, industrialize their technology, manage their manufacturing programs and scale their products.
Previously, he was the Head of Corporate Development of PCD Stores Group Limited, a national high-end department store and outlet mall chain in China that he took public on the HKEX at >$1.5B in market cap; and a strategy consultant with Bain & Company Greater China practice. He acquired his BA in Economics from Cornell University and MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
