Abstract:
Should platforms like Amazon or Google match consumers to the best firms?
Or might consumers be better off from being mismatched? This paper shows
that rational consumers may be better off from being mismatched because
it lowers market prices. This paper formalizes and studies this novel price-theoretic
rationale for giving consumers fewer, not more, choices.
