Following the successful inaugural conference of the Institute of China Economy (ICE) in 2023, we will hold the 2nd annual conference on May 6-7, 2024 under the title “2nd Annual Conference on the Asian and Global Economy” in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The objective of the conference is to create a forum to discuss new economic research on Asia and its relationship with the global economy.
The 2nd annual conference is sponsored by ICE at the HKU Business School and will be hosted by the School of Economics, Finance, and Accounting at International University – Vietnam National University HCMC. It also receives generous support from the HKU Business School’s Vietnam Centre.

Visa Application
Travel Visa to Vietnam (Leisure purpose) – All nationalities can now apply for an E-visa with a fee of USD 25. Please be reminded that this fee is non-refundable, no matter if your Vietnam e-visa is approved or not. Attendees should be responsible for checking the visa application information carefully.
Please apply online here at least two weeks before the departure date.
Chinese passport:
For those holding a Chinese passport whose number starts with an E, after landing, you will first need to convert your e-visa to a paper-based visa at the Visa counter before lining up to get through the customs. There might be some minor admin fees involved. Please kindly follow this order, otherwise, you’ll be asked to return to the visa counter.
Visa exemption:
Citizens from countries listed here are eligible for visa exemption and could stay in Vietnam for 14 – 45 days.
Please remember to bring your visa, passport (valid for at least six months from the date of departing the country)

Bio
Professor Bernard is an expert in international trade and investment and specializes in firm responses to globalization. In recent papers, he has documented the emergence of factory-less goods producers in the US, revisited traditional views of deindustrialization and explored the dynamics of new exporters and the role of intermediaries in global trade. His current research focuses on the evolution of global (and domestic) production networks and the consequences for firm performance.

Bio
Rema Hanna is the Jeffrey Cheah Professor of South-East Asia Studies and Chair of the International Development Area at the Harvard Kennedy School. She serves as the Faculty Director of Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD) at Harvard University’s Center for International Development and is the co-Scientific Director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) South East Asia Office in Indonesia. In addition, Professor Hanna is a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and an affiliate of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD).
