Registration:
Graduands who are eligible to attend the Congregation Ceremony will receive an invitation by email. If you have questions on your graduation eligibility, please contact your respective programme office directly.
Yes. Graduands are required to pre-register for themselves and their guests via the online registration system by June 20, 2022. A confirmation email with the event admission QR Codes (for the graduand and the guests) will only be sent to graduands who are eligible for graduation and their guests in late June. Graduands who fail to register by June 20, 2022 will be considered as not attending the ceremony.
Unfortunately, you cannot register for the Congregation Ceremony after the registration deadline. Please contact us at fbegraduation@hku.hk if you have any questions.
Degrees will be conferred on all eligible graduands during the Faculty-based Congregation Sessions, including those who are in absentia. Attendance at the Congregation will not affect graduands' graduation status/eligibility.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer the deferral of Congregation Ceremony attendance.
Admission Tickets:
Graduands will receive an email invitation with a registration link, where they can register for themselves and their guests.
Only two guest tickets are available for each graduand.
A maximum of two guest tickets can be requested. You will receive a confirmation email after the registration is closed.
Please note that no guest ticket will be distributed on the event day. Walk-in guests (i.e. guests without tickets) on the ceremony day will only be accommodated if the event venue has not reached its maximum capacity.
Visa:
Graduands should check the latest entry restrictions and quarantine requirements for traveling to Hong Kong before registration.
If you have registered to attend the Congregation Ceremony, you will receive a confirmation email in late June. If you require a copy of the invitation letter in advance to support your visa application, please contact us at fbegraduation@hku.hk.
Please note that the Faculty is unable to provide additional invitation letter to support visa applications for guests. We recommend you and your guests meet all necessary visa requirements well in advance of the ceremony to avoid any inconvenience.
Academic Dress & Certificate:
Graduands may visit the HKU Congregation Website for details of academic loan at Victoria Uniform.
You are required to bring a full set of academic dress and to ensure proper attire is worn together the academic regalia. You may wish to bring safety pins to secure the gown and hood in place. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking up and down the stage steps. Please refer to here for suggested attire.
No academic dress will be available for loan on the event day.
Academic dress is mandatory for graduands attending the Faculty Congregation Ceremony. Graduands who are not in full academic dress will not be presented on stage.

No. You do not need to attend the ceremony to receive your degree certificate and transcript. Please find more information on the HKU Congregation website.
Adverse Weather Arrangements:
If Tropical Storm Warning Signal No. 8 (or a higher number) or the Rainstorm Black Warning Signal is hoisted on July 6, 2022 (Wednesday), the following arrangements will be applied:
Morning Session
If either of the warnings is hoisted or in force at/after 7:00am, the Ceremony will be cancelled.
If either of the warnings is lowered or cancelled at/before 7:00am, the Ceremony will be held as scheduled.
Afternoon Session
If either of the warnings is hoisted or in force at/after 11:00am, the Ceremony will be cancelled.
If either of the warnings is lowered or cancelled at/before 11:00am, the Ceremony will be held as scheduled.
