HKU Business School’s Future Leader Scholarship Programme honours academic excellence of over 100 local students

(5 September, 2024, Hong Kong) HKU Business School awards the third year of the Future Leader Scholarship Programme, recognising 104 outstanding local undergraduates of the School. The annual programme aims to empower students by providing the resources needed to expand their knowledge and bolster their competitiveness for future career success. It also manifests HKU Business School’s steadfast long-term dedication to nurturing dynamic and responsible leaders.

The programme is supported by HKU Business School’s long-standing corporate partners and community leaders, including but not limited to AKwok Charitable Fund; BOC Group Life Assurance Company Limited; Mr. Michael Chan and family; The Fan Family Charitable Trust; Dr. Patrick Poon; and Raffles Family Office, for the third consecutive year. By recognising the academic achievements of full-time Year 3 and 4 local undergraduates and granting a one-off scholarship of HK$20,000 to each recipient, the programme aims to encourage the students to participate in various out-of-classroom learning activities.

According to the survey conducted by HKU Business School among scholarship awardees from last year, students have utilised the scholarships to participate in various out-of-classroom learning activities. Among them, 41% engaged in internships, 38% joined overseas exchange, 27% took part in extracurricular activities and 13% participated in professional examinations. The findings indicate that most students plan to leverage the scholarship to further their personal development and better prepare themselves for future challenges.

Professor Hongbin CAI, Dean of HKU Business School, said, “Marking the third anniversary of the Future Leader Scholarship Programme, we are pleased to see that over 300 students have benefited from the programme. Our sincere gratitude to our generous donors for supporting us and making this programme the largest scholarship programme for the HKU Business School. This initiative not only demonstrates the commitment of Hong Kong’s business community leaders but also shows the School’s dedication to nurturing talent for Hong Kong’s future.”

HKU Business School is committed to being a leading, globally impactful academic institution of business and economics. Through initiatives like the Future Leader Scholarship Programme, the school continues to nurture dynamic future leaders who will go on to create positive changes in the world.
