Biography

Professor Wang Tao had been teaching for Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiaotong University. Also, he had been working at the Commodity Desk and FICC Department in China International Capital Corporation, and the Fixed Income Division of Morgan Stanley.

Professor Wang has extensive experience in providing financial consulting services for risk management to various enterprises, delivering special lectures on hedging and risk management. Professor Wang has also served as a review expert for the “Central Enterprise Derivative Business Expert Review Group”, assisting the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, CSRC, Ministry of Commerce, and State Administration of Foreign Exchange in evaluating and granting central enterprise derivative business qualifications.

Professor Wang started practicing meditation in 2004.  He has participated in the experiments on meditation and health directed by Professor Herbert Benson in Harvard Medical School. Furthermore, he learned various Eastern medication methods. Meanwhile, he has studied psychological theories extensively.  He spent more than 10 years on the research of meditation and investment/business decision-making. He wrote a book on the topic, Present and Centered: Decision-making Mindset.

Teaching

Professor Wang offers courses including “Zen and Decision-making”, “Emotion Management and Investment Decision”, “Financial Risk Management”, ” Simulation Trading in Equities and FICC”,  “Financial Derivatives”,  “Options Application and Trading”, “Commodities Hedging and Investment”, “Corporate Hedging” and “Corporate Finance”.

Research Interest

Professor Wang’s research focuses on corporate risk management, emotion management and investment decisions, Asian currency options and pricing mechanisms, rare-event & uncertainty pricing, evolution of Chinese future markets from a high frequency perspective, and a Phenomenological approach to investment. He also provides consultancy services to government and corporate entities.
