新冠肺炎虽然对全球经济造成一定的打击，但人类的创新精神却从来没有因疫情而减退。 11月14日，港大经管学院院长蔡洪滨教授及其博士毕业论文导师兼2020年诺贝尔经济学奖得主，史丹福大学米尔格龙教授（Paul Robert Milgrom）同获邀出席第十一届财新峰会「重建全球信任」，讨论有关拍卖理论的发展及市场设计研究的未来。米尔格龙教授开场便向大家简述由他的研究团队开发、获得诺贝尔奖委员会青睐的全新拍卖模式。该模式为整个美国电视行业带来全面革新，展示米尔格龙教授在理论应用层面上的卓越成就。

很多人把「一国两制」的「五十年不变」，误解为「资本主义」的「什么都不变」，以为只要教条地延续自由放任的经济逻辑和单一固化的经济结构，不需进行任何改革，就能维持香港辉煌；不料，我们却因而忽略这一经济体制的缺陷，甚至卷进意识形态冲突的洪流，不但无法摆脱「变与不变」的纠缠，而且陷入由盛转衰的困境。

在11月5日举行的财新峰会上，2020年诺贝尔经济学奖得主Paul Milgrom和香港大学经济及工商管理学院院长蔡洪滨针对市场与政府之间的关系进行了探讨。蔡洪滨认为，市场和政府不是两极化关系，由谁占主导需要分情况精心设计。Paul Milgrom认为，市场机制要根据市场需求去设计，需关注社会公平。疫苗发放和5G普及涉及不同的公共需求，市场设计所采用的理念和方法也不相同。
