Ms Su-Mei Thompson

Ms Su-Mei Thompson joined The Women’s Foundation as CEO in 2009. Her responsibilities include strategic planning, donor relations, overseeing grants and programmes, as well as government relations and community outreach.

Ms Thompson started her career at Linklaters as a corporate finance associate while also serving as a lecturer and tutor in law at King’s College, London. She went on to hold senior management positions at The Walt Disney Company, the Financial Times where she was Managing Director for Asia and a member of the FT’s Global Management Board, and Christie’s in Asia where she was responsible for Strategy, Business Development and Marketing & Communications and the firm’s regional network of 13 regional representative offices. 

In addition to running The Women’s Foundation, Ms Thompson is a Board member of the Equal Opportunities Commission of Hong Kong and of Opera HK, and she is a council member of The Cheltenham Ladies College, her alma mater. Her recent speaking credits include TEDxWanChaiWomen in 2015 and the Women’s Forum in Deauville in 2015.

Ms Thompson holds law degrees from Cambridge and Oxford and an MBA from IMD where she was the first woman to graduate on the Dean’s list. She is also a recent recipient of the Andy Choa Scholarship which sponsors Hong Kong NGO leaders to attend the SPNM program at Harvard Business School. Ms Thompson received the HKAH and Tatler Woman of Hope Award for Power & Influence in 2014 and AmCham’s Non Profit Leader of the Year in 2015. She was also named one of Debrett’s 100 Most Influential People in HK in 2015.
